Testing new webmail

views

As I’ve previously announced, I’m using the summer time to activate some new feature on the LoneStar Network.

I’ve installed a new webmail software, named RoundCube.

It’s a more modern software compared to SquirrelMail, especially in graphics features. It’s Ajax-based and it allows for drag & dropping, fading, etc. But on the other side it doesn’t have all those expansions and plugins that Squirrel has.

You can try it at webmailnew.lonestar.it

Let me know your opinions and suggestions, so we can decide if it’s worth using it as our main webmail software on the network

Homecoming

views

I’m back today from vacation, and it’s been a quiet and regenerating pause, even if it’s never too much! I hope to have some other day off in August, but we’ll see. At current time I’m again available for quick operations in case of issues.

There’s been no technical issue on servers nor line downtime during these two weeks, and everything has worked smoothly. I’ve planned to enable some new service soon, but I’m not disclosing anything, because I could be too lazy to achieve it!

Vacation!!

views

Woot! Starting today, I’m on vacation!

I hope there won’t be any service interruption, since I am at seaside for a couple of weeks and I won’t be able to quickly solve occurring system locks. I will keep on monitoring servers, services and sites from remote access.

I also wish myself happy birthday!!

New ADSL router

views

Starting from this evening LoneStar Network’s services are no longer provided by the old and glourous Zyxel 642R router, on continuous service for no less than 6 years.

I’ve just installed a new router, an Atlantis Land I-Fly Wireless Router. It’s a commodity device, but still much more advanced than the old Zyxel, espeacially because it supports ADSL2/ADSL2+ standards, required for new 7 or 20Mb/s lines.

At current time my line is still a 1280/256Mb/s link, but it might be updated shortly, therefore with this router we’re ready to go!

Network issues

views

This week I’ve been out of town for work (you’ll soon see new pics in my gallery) and just on these days my Adsl router decided to hang 🙁

The interruption lasted a couple of days until someone has been able to reset it and restore access to websites and mail service.

I am sorry for the inconvenience!
